The Yorke and Mid-North Local First Nations Voice recently travelled to Point Pearce on Narungga Country for its quarterly meeting and to meet with community.
Members met in the Point Pearce community on 1 July 2025 to discuss matters affecting First Nations people both locally, and throughout the Yorke and Mid-North region. They heard of the challenges facing the local community including limited access to transport, health services, and housing. Availability of suitable primary years education was also raised, with the local community school only teaching up to Grade 2, forcing children to travel further each day. A strong desire to invest in community infrastructure and unlock economic and employment opportunities was clear.
Look out for Voice Members in the Yorke and Mid-North over coming months, where there will be opportunities to share your views. You can also bring matters to the attention of your Local Voice Member at any time using their online form.
