
The First Nations Stolen Generations Advisory Committee will be made up of 6 people appointed by the State Voice.

Purpose and functions
The Committee will:
- Advise the State Voice on matters, policies, services, and systemic barriers affecting the lives and wellbeing of Stolen Generations survivors.
- Provide the State Voice culturally informed insights that enhance policy development and decision making affecting Stolen Generations.
- Provide guidance on the ongoing impacts of removal policies on Stolen Generations survivors and their families
- Provide advice and advocacy for the prevention of child removal practices.
- Provide advice relating to long-term healing and recovery and sustainability across generations
- Support truth telling and education for awareness of Stolen Generations.
- Strengthen intergenerational knowledge sharing through recommendations and advocacy
- Ensure that the voices and experiences of Stolen Generation survivors are central to decision-making, policy development, truth-telling, and healing processes.
- Promote culturally safe support, redress, and justice for members of the Stolen Generations, their families, and descendants.
- Support culturally appropriate engagement and consultation with Stolen Generations.
- Provide advice on such other matters relating to Stolen Generations as determined by the State Voice.
Membership
The Committee will consist of six (6) First Nations persons appointed by the State Voice.
All members must:
- be First Nations persons; and
- be either:
- survivors of the Stolen Generations, or
- descendants of Stolen Generations survivors,
- reside in South Australia; and
- not be current members of the State Voice or any Local First Nations Voice.
Where possible, the State Voice will do its best to achieve equal gender diversity in the composition of the committee.
Term of office
Members will be appointed for a term not exceeding two (2) years and will be eligible for reappointment, unless they have served two (2) consecutive maximum terms (4 years total).
Meetings
The Committee will meet at least two (2) times per year.
Members are expected to attend all meetings and participate in all processes constructively, and in good faith.
Meetings will be held at a time and location (or virtual platform) determined by the Chairs in consultation with the State Voice and other members.
